On December 18, 2018, a round table was held at the University of Banking, co-organized by the NGO "VAIBIT" and 7event.group: Cybersecurity in the Era of the Digital Economy. Security has always been and remains perhaps the most pressing issue, both for individuals and for legal entities. Today, when the state is under pressure from external factors, fraud does not "sleep," and modern technologies do not allow us to "relax" — security issues come to the fore in all spheres and sectors of the economy, especially in the financial sector and throughout the business environment. Cybercrime has become one of the main threats in the world. Leading experts in cybersecurity, government authorities overseeing this issue, businesses, and academics expressed their views during the round table on the main threats and key areas on which the state needs to focus in partnership with the private sector. The issues discussed are currently key items on the agenda — Legislative initiatives — implementation of the Law of Ukraine "On the Basic Principles of Ensuring Cybersecurity of Ukraine," its impact on the banking and financial sector, preparation and implementation of secondary legislation, readiness for harmonization of Ukraine's digital market with the EU, readiness of the IT sector and citizens for the digital economy, the state of cyber hygiene; Fraud — are there ways to avoid and counter fraud, liability for actions; Jurisdiction and novelties of European legislation in the field of electronic communications. Roman Proskurovskyi, Deputy Head of the Information Security Department of the Security Service of the NBU, and Yevhen Hulak, Deputy Director of the Security Department, Head of the IS Protection Division at JSC "TASCOMBANK," spoke about the impact of the Law of Ukraine "On the Basic Principles of Ensuring Cybersecurity of Ukraine" on the banking and financial sector and about the need to train decision-making systems that cannot learn on their own — they need to be trained by specialists whom government agencies and businesses in Ukraine are currently not prepared to retain. Dmytro Matviiv, Director of Business Development, Virgil Security, Inc., emphasized the issue of WHAT to protect and the encryption of communication channels. Volodymyr Bezmalyi, a cybersecurity expert, and Oleksandr Kozak, a leading specialist in network security at LAN Systems, emphasized the need for awareness in the field of information security for all participants in the digital economy and the weakest link in any information security system — an uninformed person. Andrii Paziuk, Director of Legal Affairs at the Ukrainian Academy of Cybersecurity, proposed taking into account the experience of leading countries, namely the USA, which since 2004 has used the Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity for managing investments in information technology 1 Ihor Pihariev, trusted advisor at Qnective AG, presented solutions for businesses and government agencies to protect against threats in the field of cybersecurity.
